We at BRP Family Law are pleased to introduce our newest member of the legal team, Jared Sands. A graduate of the American University and Washington College of Law, Jared is now with us as an associate attorney. As a further introduction to you, here’s a quick question and answer session with the man himself.
What made you want to become a lawyer?
I have wanted to be a lawyer ever since I can remember. I have always liked arguing. I don’t really even understand the reference, but my preschool teachers called me Perry Mason. I like trying to figure things out logically to prove a point. I also like the idea that your work can help improve other people’s lives.
What aspect about your job do you really enjoy?
I really enjoy the atmosphere here. Everyone is very friendly to one another and seemingly gets along well. I got the sense when interviewing that this was really a team effort and that has been the case since I joined.
What’s one thing people might not know about you?
I was deathly allergic to milk until my senior year of high school. I did not have pizza, ice cream, etc until I was 18. I went through a desensitization process and now can have milk without consequence.
If there was another career field you could break into, what would it be?
Probably marketing. I like the idea of trying to figure out strategic ways to market products to consumers and advertising in general.
What is your background? Ex: where are you originally from, where did you go to school, etc.
I am from Atlanta, GA, originally. I came to the area to go to the University of Maryland and stayed to attend American University for law school.
What is your favorite pastime?
Baseball! I am a huge Red Sox fan.
Where would you like to be, career-wise, in 10 years?
I would like to be a partner.
Have you traveled a lot? Where to? What’s the #1 place you would like to visit?
I have traveled a lot to Israel and western Europe. I really want to go to England and see a bunch of soccer games.
Do you have any bucket list items? Ex: skydiving, learning to play an instrument, etc.
I want to go to a world series game in Fenway Park!
And that’s our quick introduction to Jared! We hope you enjoyed learning more about our newest attorney and we are looking forward to him helping our team move forward!
